📦 Orders & Production
Are your wigs made to order?
Yes. Every wig at The Hair Source is handcrafted individually to order. We do not hold pre-made stock. This means that when you place your order, your wig is made specifically for you to the specification shown on the product listing. We believe this approach ensures a consistently high standard of quality on every single order.
How long will it take for my wig to be made?
Please allow 10 working days from the date of payment confirmation for your wig to be handcrafted and prepared for dispatch. Orders placed on weekends or UK public holidays will begin production on the next available working day. You will receive a dispatch notification with your tracking information once your wig is on its way.
Can I change or cancel my order after it has been placed?
Because all of our wigs are handcrafted to order, we are only able to accommodate changes or cancellations within 24 hours of the order being placed. After this window, production will have begun and we are unable to make amendments or process cancellations. Please review your order carefully before completing your purchase and contact us immediately at hello@thehairsource.co.uk if you need to make a change.
Will I receive a confirmation when I place my order?
Yes. You will receive an order confirmation email as soon as your purchase is complete. You will then receive a second email containing your tracking information once your wig has been dispatched. If you do not receive your order confirmation within a few hours of purchasing, please check your spam or junk folder before contacting us.
Do you offer bespoke or custom orders?
At this time, our wigs are available in the styles and specifications listed on our website. If you have a specific query regarding a style, please contact us before placing your order and we will do our best to assist you.
💎 Hair Quality & Construction
What type of hair is used in your wigs?
All of our wigs are crafted from 100% virgin human hair. Virgin hair is human hair that has never been chemically processed — it has not been coloured, permed, relaxed or treated in any way. This makes it strong, healthy and long-lasting, with a natural look and feel that synthetic and processed hair simply cannot replicate.
What is the difference between virgin hair and raw hair?
This is a great question and an important distinction to understand.
- Virgin hair is 100% human hair that has never been chemically processed. It is collected and may be steam processed to achieve a specific texture, but it remains free from chemical treatment. It is high quality, durable and natural in appearance.
- Raw hair is the most unprocessed form of human hair available. It is collected directly from a single donor, has never been steam processed and retains its completely natural texture and pattern. Raw hair is considered the highest grade of human hair and is priced accordingly.
Our wigs are made from virgin hair, which offers excellent quality, longevity and a natural finish at a more accessible price point than raw hair.
How long will my wig last?
With proper care and maintenance, a virgin hair wig can last 12 months or longer. The longevity of your wig will depend on how frequently it is worn and how well it is cared for. Please refer to our aftercare guidance below for tips on maintaining your wig.
Can I colour or heat style my virgin hair wig?
Because our wigs are made from virgin human hair, they can generally tolerate heat styling using tools such as flat irons, curling wands and blow dryers, provided a heat protectant is used. Virgin hair can also be coloured, however we strongly recommend having this done by a professional stylist experienced in working with human hair wigs. Please be aware that any chemical or heat damage resulting from styling is not covered under our returns policy.
What cap construction do your wigs use?
All of our wigs are constructed on a full lace cap. A full lace cap has lace across the entire base of the wig, allowing the hair to be parted in any direction for maximum styling versatility. The lace lies flat against the scalp and, when applied correctly, creates a seamless, natural-looking hairline.
What does the lace look like against the skin?
Our wigs feature transparent or HD lace, which is designed to blend seamlessly with a wide range of skin tones. When applied correctly with wig adhesive or tape, the lace becomes virtually invisible, giving the appearance of hair growing directly from the scalp.

Why are your wigs priced in British Pounds (GBP)?
The Hair Source is a UK-based business and all of our prices are listed in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). If you are shopping from outside the United Kingdom, your bank or payment provider will automatically convert the total into your local currency at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of purchase. Please note that we have no control over exchange rates or any conversion fees your bank may apply.
Why are virgin hair full lace wigs priced the way they are?
We understand that virgin hair full lace wigs represent a significant investment, and we believe it is important to be transparent about why.
The price of a virgin hair full lace wig reflects:
- The quality and sourcing of the hair — 100% unprocessed virgin human hair commands a significantly higher price than synthetic or processed hair
- The skill and time involved in handcrafting a full lace wig — each wig is individually made by hand
- The full lace cap construction — a full lace cap is one of the most premium wig constructions available
- Our 10 working day production time — each wig is made to order, not mass produced

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major payment methods at checkout, including major credit and debit cards and other secure payment options available through Shopify Payments. All transactions are processed securely.

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping costs are as follows:

Please note that transit times are calculated from the date of dispatch and are in addition to the 10 working day production period.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Your total waiting time consists of two parts:
- Production Time: 10 working days from the date of payment confirmation for your wig to be handcrafted
- Shipping Transit Time: As outlined in the shipping table above, depending on your location
Example: A customer in South Africa placing an order on a Monday can expect their wig to be dispatched on or around the 10th working day, with a further 1–4 business days for delivery via DHL Express.
Will my order be tracked?
Yes. All orders are dispatched with full tracking. Once your wig has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number and a direct link to monitor your delivery in real time via the DPD or DHL tracking portal.
Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?
Orders shipped outside of the United Kingdom may be subject to customs duties, import taxes or handling fees imposed by the destination country's customs authority. These charges are entirely outside of our control and are the sole responsibility of the customer. We are legally required to declare the full value of all goods on customs documentation and are unable to misrepresent or undervalue any parcel under any circumstances. We strongly recommend researching the import regulations applicable in your country before placing your order.
What happens if I miss my delivery?
If a delivery attempt is unsuccessful, your courier will leave notification and provide instructions for rescheduling or collecting your parcel from a local depot. Please ensure you arrange redelivery or collection within the timeframe specified by the courier. Parcels that are returned to us due to failed delivery or failure to collect may incur a re-shipping fee.
🔄 Returns & Refunds
What is your returns policy?
Because all of our wigs are handcrafted to order, we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds simply due to a change of mind. We encourage all customers to review product listings carefully and contact us with any questions before placing an order.
However, if your wig arrives damaged or significantly different from what was described on the product listing, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery at hello@thehairsource.co.uk with your order number, a description of the issue and supporting photographs. We will assess each case individually and work with you to find a fair resolution.
Please note that damage or alterations resulting from styling, colouring or improper care are not covered under our returns policy.
What if my parcel arrives damaged?
If your parcel arrives in a visibly damaged condition, please photograph the outer packaging and the product immediately and contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will liaise with our courier on your behalf to investigate and resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
🧴 Wig Care & Aftercare
How do I care for my virgin hair pixie wig?
To keep your wig looking its best for as long as possible, we recommend the following:
- Wash gently with a sulphate-free shampoo and a moisturising conditioner
- Detangle carefully with a wide-tooth comb, working from the ends upward
- Air dry where possible, or use a blow dryer on a low heat setting
- Store on a wig stand or mannequin head when not in use to maintain the style and shape
- Avoid sleeping, showering or swimming in your wig where possible
- Use a heat protectant before applying any heat styling tools
Can I wash my wig?
Yes. Virgin hair wigs can be washed in the same way you would wash natural human hair. We recommend washing no more than once every 1–2 weeks depending on wear frequency, using gentle, sulphate-free hair products. Avoid rubbing or wringing the hair — instead, gently squeeze out excess water and allow the wig to air dry on a wig stand.

Do you have a size guide?
Our wigs are available in Small (21"), Medium (22"), and Large (23") cap sizes with a built-in adjustable strap. To determine your size, please measure the circumference of your head as indcated in item 1 in the graphic below.
